Install / Uninstall

Pre-Installation Checks and Steps:

  1. Ensure that the appropriate server software has been installed in your environment.

  2. Check that your system meets the Solution Requirements.

  3. Before installing QwickACCESS configure the connection on the HP end point and verify it is working.

  4. Plug a supported proximity card reader into an available USB port on the HP end point.

Installing QwickACCESS on the HP Thin Pro or Smart Zero client

  1. Copy the qax270amd64.xar file to a USB "thumb" drive

  2. Boot up the HP end point device

  3. Plug the USB "thumb" drive into a USB port on the HP end point device.

  4. If the end point is not already in Admin Mode, you will be prompted for the Admin Password.

  5. The "USB Update" window should appear. Click to put a check in the check box next to the qax270amd64.xar file. Then click the "Install" button.

  6. A "hptc-usb-update" progress dialog with the message "Installing packages..." should appear. It will take about 30 - 60 seconds to install the qax package.

  7. After the install completes, close the "hptc-usb-update" dialog window. Then close the "USB Update" window.

  8. To configure the newly installed qax package, while still in Admin Mode,

    1. Open the terminal window.

    2. In the terminal window, run this command: fsunlock; start qax-config

    3. The "QwickACCESS Client Configuration" tool window will appear. Follow the instructions on the Client Configuration page to complete the configuration of QwickACCESS.

Uninstall QwickACCESS on the HP Thin Pro or Smart Zero client

Please note: The qa.ini file, which contains all QwickACCESS client settings, will be deleted upon uninstall - if you wish to save the /etc/qwickaccess/qa.ini file do so before uninstalling QwickACCESS.

  1. Switch to Admin Mode.

  2. Open a Terminal window and unlock the file system. From the command line type: fsunlock.

  3. To remove QwickACCESS

    • From the command line type: apt-get purge qax
