User Quick Start Guide

The following information covers the use of QwickACCESS from an end-user point of view.

To start QwickACCESS for Chrome Devices on User or Public Session Kiosk devices, locate the QwickACCESS App from either the Chrome Web Store or Chrome Shelf, and click to launch. On Single-App Kiosk devices, simply start the device and the QwickACCESS app will auto-launch.

Self-Registration

  • QwickACCESS allows users to register their own proximity badges on systems where QwickACCESS is installed. Self-Registration allows end users to start using the QwickACCESS app right away, eliminating the need for IT involvement in user registration or for the user to go to a special registration station.

  • The first time a user taps their badge on the reader, QwickACCESS will recognize that the badge is unregistered and will then ask the user for their Active Directory username and password.

  • Once the user has correctly supplied their Active Directory username and password, QwickACCESS will save the registration.

  • This is a one-time event, meaning that the proximity card will be automatically registered on the other Chrome end-points where QwickACCESS is installed; the user won't need to go through the registration process again on any other Chrome end-points.

  • After registration is complete, the user's Citrix session will be automatically launched and signed-on.

Tap-In

  • Tap-in functionality provided by QwickACCESS allows end users to access their Citrix session on Chrome devices by tapping their proximity badge on the RFIDeas badge reader

  • At the beginning of their day/shift, the user will tap their badge on the "tap your badge" screen

  • The username will automatically be filled in the QwickACCESS dialog box, and the cursor will be located in the password field

  • The user will then enter their Active Directory password associated with their proximity badge and select "OK"

  • Typically, depending organization policy, the end user will then be able to tap-in the rest of the day without having to manually type in their password

    • Note: Tapping-in without manually entering a password is dependent on QwickACCESS' Rolling Password-Save feature. This feature allows IT Administrators to set the amount of a time a user's password is "saved" between badge taps before requiring the user to manually re-enter it; this is what allows a QwickACCESS user to sign-in without having to manually type a password. Please contact your organization's IT Administrator if you would like to know more information about this feature and how it affects your ability to tap-in.

  • After tapping in, QwickACCESS will automatically launch and sign-on to the user's Citrix session

Securing the User Session

  • After tapping in the user can secure their session by tapping their proximity badge again. This badge tap will also refresh and extend the 'password-save time' so that the user will not need to re-enter their password so long as the password-save time has not expired

  • Securing their session saves and secures that user's session to be accessed later, without logging the user out

  • After securing their session, a lock screen will be displayed with an image and the words "Session Secured" with the username displayed below

  • The user may then access their secured session on the same or any other QwickACCESS enabled computer by tapping their badge, picking up where they left off when last securing their session

  • Note: If the user wishes to disconnect their session and log out completely, they need to select the "disconnect" option on their Citrix XenDesktop. If the user disconnects, the computer will return to the "tap your badge" screen

Tap-over

  • QwickACCESS' tap-over functionality allows users to tap-in over another user's active session to access their own Citrix session without affecting the current user's session

  • If a user approaches a machine with QwickACCESS and sees the "Session Secured" screen, they can still tap their proximity badge to login to their unique session

  • Note: If a user approaches an open, active session, they can still perform a tap-over. In doing so, the previous user's session will be saved and secured for access at a later time
